Melies was way ahead of his time, he had nothing to look back on as an example, he just had to create movies as he saw fit. I think his work had to have been looked at by, and inspired directors and producers of early 20th century Hollywood.

OK I know there are a lot of comments about Felix committing suicide at the end. But y’all need to get this cartoons were supposed to be meant for adults back in the 1920s and 30s. And back in those days suicide wasn’t really a big deal and used to be played as a joke but now the government has become really sensitive and that’s why you don’t see a lot of those jokes in today’s shows. Like I always say, it’s important to accept that the past is the past, and we shouldn’t try to erase it because those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it.
